Thanksgiving celebrations at Cheung Kong
Beijing, November 25, 2010 – Perhaps not often celebrated in China, Cheung Kong MBA 2010 students decided to celebrate Thanksgiving together. The class kindly extended the invitation to Director Lei, Professor Ou, Professor Viard and all staff members of the MBA program to join them on this warm occasion.
There were multiple reasons to be thankful for on this special day, as Jerry He nicely put it, it has been 45 days since the MBA year at Cheung Kong MBA began and he was thankful for his time at Cheung Kong. Also, congratulations to Julia, who has just became a mother of two health baby boys.
When Director Lei was invited to speak to all the students, besides jokes, he reminded all that MBA is not a ‘100 meters dash but rather it’s a marathon’. Therefore they need to continue their effort but of course, meanwhile enjoy themselves too.
As a token of their appreciation, the students presented a bottle of wine to Director Lei and the professors before bottles of wine were cracked open.
With their cups topped up with wine, Adam Steingburg, representing the American student body, was especially touched by the occasion commented, ‘Imagine 400 years ago in Massachusetts, after just arriving from England for a new life… during a cold, cold winter and low supplies of food, local tribes of Native Americans came and supported them and taught them to live on their own, just like our professors’, joined by everyone in the room, they all ‘cheers’.

Director Lei and professors enjoyed the Thanksgiving present very much.

Adam Steingburg was especially excited to celebrate Thanksgiving with fellow classmates and few bottles of French wine.
